The aim of the Art department is to foster students’ perception and sensibility through creativity. We equip pupils with the perceptual skills they need to understand and respond to art and design forms. At the same time, they are encouraged to develop a social conscience and to make a positive contribution to the life of the School through art-related activities.
By the end of Key Stage 3, students will have experienced and learned to use a wide range of materials and media. They use Information and Communications Technology, drawing materials, painting, 3D sculpture and mixed media.
As well as helping them to acquire technical skills, we place emphasis on enriching their experience of Art education in the wider sense.
At GCSE, we follow the AQA Fine Art course. At A Level, students work towards the AQA Fine Art qualification and Graphic Design.
A popular Art Club runs every lunch time, and there are two after-school sessions every week. Lower School pupils also have the opportunity to come to a weekly Arts and Crafts Club. Our A - level students take part in a life-drawing course that runs for one whole term.
