At Bristol Cathedral Choir School, we believe high standards, clear boundaries, and consistent discipline create a safe environment where students can thrive. We achieve this through a clear set of rules upheld strictly, but always with kindness and care. Promoting good behaviour is a shared responsibility between staff, parents, and pupils.
Our ten rules ensure a focused and respectful learning environment:
Show good manners; treat others with kindness and respect.
Follow instructions from all staff immediately.
Care for the school environment; keep it clean and tidy.
Arrive on time for school and lessons.
Always try your hardest on classwork and homework.
Bring the correct equipment for learning.
Wear the correct uniform smartly.
Keep mobile phones and devices off and in bags.
Stay in permitted areas of the school.
Never bring prohibited items to school.
We prioritise rewards as a motivator. House Points are awarded for meeting or exceeding school rules and recorded on Class Charts. Student achievements are celebrated through contact home, prize draws, assemblies, and the online Reward Store, where points can be exchanged for prizes.
Behaviour Points are issued when rules are broken. Minor mistakes receive a Behaviour Point, while unkind, disrespectful, or harmful actions receive immediate consequences. Same-day detentions are mandatory, helping students take responsibility and reset for the next day.
